DRIVERS DESCRIPTION FROM METRO MANILA TO PUNTA RIVIERA RESORT, BOLINAO PANGASINAN (December 08)

The following description,photos and maps are to assist driving from Metro Manila to Punta Riviera Resort.

SHORT DESCRIPTION

Normal driving time from Venezuela at the North End of Metro Manila to Punta Riviera Resort is 4.5 hrs if the following directions are taken. Some guests take 7 hrs due to Metro Manila traffic and because the one-way systems at Tarlac and Camiling are poorly signposted. You can save up to 2.5 hours by avoiding Dagupan, Urdaneta and Lingayen.

From Valenzuela take modern highways to Luisita (see below) and then go on to Tarlac Town;
    At Tarlac turn left off MacArthur’s Highway (at Mercury Drug Store) and go over river to Camiling;

         Then on to Burgallon, Labrador, Sual, Alaminos, Bani, Bolinao and follow coastline over Balinasay River
 to Punta Riviera Resort.

           Follow 100 Islands signs from Tarlac to Alaminos + Sual; follow Bolinao signs thereafter. Follow Puerto Del Sol signs and Punta is located 100m before the latter.

VALENZUELA JUNCTION TO TALAC – 1.5 HRS.

Take the North Highway through MetroManila to the key junction at Valenzuela.
                  Shortly after this you will enter the tolled North Luzon Expressway and travel on modern dual carriageway towards Tarlac in Pampanga,near Angeles and Clark Airfield.

    Shortly after joining the local Manila – Tarlac Road the sign shown on Plate 1 offers you the option of turning right and traveling by another (new) tolled carriageway to the Haciendas Luisita estate to the South of Tarlac.The toll road is recommended. Take the Luisita exit from this new toll road to rejoin the Manila – Tarlac Road to the North of the  Luisita Center and turn right towards Tarlac town proper at General Camp Servilano Aquino.See Plate 2.

                                       Plate 1 Option; instead of using local road from North Luzon Expressway
via Bamban. Turn right here and take new tolled highway to Luisita Estate

 Plate 2 Rejoin main Manila - Tarlac Road at Luisita Estate – turn right
past Camp General Servilano Aquino

 LUISITA ESTATE AT TARLAC TO BEYOND CAMILING -1 hr

The key junctions and one way systems at Tarlac Town Proper and Camiling are difficult, poorly signposted, have heavy traffic with many tricycles and if missed can cause delays. So take your time and don’t get frapped out! You need to avoid going north into Dagupan and Lingayen. Essentially you need to look for signage to Camiling and 100 ISLANDS.

Map 2 above shows the key left hand turn at Tarlac Town Proper at Mercury Drug Store from MacArthur Highway into Zamora Street,followed by a right hand turn at Tarlac State University (at the big MacDondalds Sign) past Photo Express (now Fuji Film) and Tambunting/ Pawnshop, followed by an immediate left hand turn. Go straight through the next junction over the Aquino Bridge and Tarlac River. Congratulations – you have just shaved 2 hours off a 7 hr drive through Dagupan!
